I'm having a problem with getting NASLite to run. I followed the instructions to create a boot disk. I did this with Knoppix. I have the hard drives turned off in the bios. My system is an old Pentium 200 with a 4GB and a 20GB harddrive. I get to the point of creating the RAMDISK.

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 798. Then I get the following message

Error i8253 count to high! resetting. :(

the boot process stops there with a repeat of the error message. As I type this it has repeated 5 times.

Any hints?

I would suspect either a bad floppy or a bad floppy image.

Try a new (different) floppy disk, then try to d/l the floppy image again if that doesn't work.

Are you using knoppix on the same machine to write the floppy? Because sometimes, w/ the 1.7 meg floppies, a different floppy drive writing and reading the diskette can cause a problem.

Hope this helps.

Tim

I rebuilt the machine I was using. I replaced the floppy cable and the ethernet card and that seemed to fix the problem. So I thought. I was able to bring the system up and see in on my network. The next time I went to connect to it, I couldn't see it on the network. I also am unable to see one of the 2 hard drives installed. Back to troubleshooting.

Is there a way to troubleshoot the hardware from within NAS lite?

The NASLite Info export provides all the feedback necessary to troubleshoot, provided you can boot and access remotely.
